POLICE AND DATATAG TEAM UP TO HOST ASHBOURNE SECURITY MARKING DAY

Ashbourne officers are teaming up with Datatag ID later this month to encourage residents to protect their property from thieves.
Over recent weeks, police have received reports of thieves breaking into cars and vans and stealing power tools from within.
Following the thefts, Safer Neighbourhood officers are joining forces with representatives from Datatag ID to host an event aimed at encouraging residents, particularly tradespeople, to boost the security of their tools.
This will take place at Shawcroft Car Park on Park Road, Ashbourne between 10am and 2pm on Monday, July 25.
PC Rachel Baggaley from the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Thieves love clean, unmarked tools that can be easily sold on so don’t make it easy for them by property marking all of your valuables.
“To help you to easily boost your security, we will be working alongside representatives from Datatag to offer discounted security marking on all power tools. By doing so, this will make your possessions identifiable and traceable should they be stolen and recovered, and also less attractive to thieves.”
Datatag will be offering a discounted price of £9.99 (including VAT) for each power tool to be marked. This is ideal for larger items such as chain saws to be security marked.
