Restoration of Erased Marks Training Course
IMI Accredited Restoration of Erased Marks Training Course
Dates of next courses:
Wed 22nd - Thur 23rd January 2025.
Location: Datatag HQ.
The Datatag Restoration of Erased Marks Course has been specifically designed to provide the essential techniques and theories needed to detect, recover, and verify erased or damaged serial numbers, playing a vital role in supporting investigative processes. It is a vital component in the structure of the Datatag training, compounding and complimenting the learning in our other IMI accredited courses.
Candidates will develop a deep understanding of both chemical and physical methods for restoring erased marks through practical, hands-on training and will be enable them to handle restoration work with confidence. Beyond practical restoration techniques, candidates will learn about the factors that contribute to the erasure or alteration of identification marks, the common methods employed by criminals to obscure these identifiers, and the various challenges involved in recovering them.
The course also highlights the importance of structured methodical examination, ensuring students maximise the forensic opportunities to recover evidence.
Additionally the course covers elements of report writing, documentation, and use of materials when presented as evidence for court. This ensures students not only recover the data but have an awareness of legal processes to help justify and support their findings in a professional manner meeting the challenges that legal proceedings can present.
At the successful conclusion of the course, candidates will be fully equipped to contribute effectively to investigations involving erased marks, including those found in vehicles such as Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs), engine numbers and other serialised identifiers.
Datatag’s Restoration of Erased Marks Course, accredited by the IMI through our own IMI Centre, is available for delivery to UK police forces as well as to the broader policing community across the EU.
This course covers both theory and practical training sessions over its 2 day duration and costs £599 plus VAT. IMI registration fee if required is an additional cost at £74 inc VAT per person.
The course is limited to just 6 attendees per session in order to maximise the input from both students and trainer.
