Pole position for Brookes as opening race countdown commences

Josh Brookes will start the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship race from Brands Hatch from pole position, setting the pace in the final Datatag Qualifying session of the season, to hold the advantage by 0.385s.

Brookes’ best lap came with two minutes of the session remaining as the VisionTrack Ducati rider broke into the 1m:24s barrier to edge out McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O'Halloran, who had fought his fellow Australian for the pole position in the closing stages.

Christian Iddon completes the front row for the VisionTrack Ducati team, nudging SYNETIQ BMW’s Bradley Ray onto row two, ahead of Luke Mossey and Gino Rea.

Title contender Glenn Irwin will head the third row for Honda Racing, just ahead of his brother Andrew with the final title contender, Tarran Mackenzie, completing the top nine just ahead of Jack Kennedy on the RAF Regular and Reserve Kawasaki.
